INSPIRING PUBLIC SPEAKER, COMMUNITY ACTIVIST and THOUGHT LEADER

‘‘

The world can be a complex

and difficult place with many challenges…

…but as I have learned, it can have great beauty and opportunity once you open your mind and heart. My life changed forever on August 3, 2006. A car bomb exploded, leaving me blind and nearly dead. Dedicated doctors, fate and faith brought me back—not as I was before, but to a new life that is perhaps better than the one before.

This new life has given me an opportunity to meet many people and share ways that faith, persistence and technology can help others in difficult or dire circumstances.

We are never alone in this life. There are always people and organizations who can help. In my new life, I have gained many new insights and skills. My desire is to share them with you.

Meet Qusay

Qusay Hussein is an education advocate, student and motivational speaker. In 2012, he immigrated to the United States and integrated himself into American society by learning English very quickly. After securing the second-highest GED score in his region, he went on to earn an associate degree from Austin Community College in 2018. With his eye on a graduate degree, Qusay then enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin and in 2021 graduated with a dual bachelor’s degree in psychology and social work. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in social work. Growing up, Qusay dreamed of becoming a surgeon. Although his visual impairment prevents him from operating, he hasn’t given up on being a doctor. His goal is to earn a doctorate’s degree psychology. In the process, Qusay has shared his story through numerous public speaking appearances, eager to relate how life’s challenges can be gifts.
